Tun Jugah’s Food Gallery to hold watermelon Fiesta Feb 28

KUCHING: The Food Gallery at Tun Jugah Shopping Complex here will hold a Watermelon Fiesta on Feb 28.

The competition, which is open to the public, promises winners attractive prizes worth around RM1,600.

Manager Justin Kueh said during a press conference yesterday that The Food Gallery is holding the fiesta to promote the consumption of fresh and healthy fruit juices.

“Admission is open to anyone of all ages in a team of two persons. The competition is limited to the first 20 teams to register with us,” he said.

All patrons (except staff and management of Tun Jugah, retail outlets and office tenants, sponsors and media partners) at The Food Gallery need only purchase any two glasses of juice – watermelon, apple, orange, carrot, etc – in a single receipt to qualify.

The receipt needs to be attached to entry forms available at The Food Gallery counter or juice bar between now and Feb 22.

Kueh said the unique and challenging Watermelon Fiesta comprises of two rounds.

“In the first round, all teams will have to roll the watermelons from The Food Gallery to the outside area around Level 3 and back to The Food Gallery.

“The top 10 teams will be eligible to take part in the second round. In this final round, they need to eat one whole watermelon and spit the seeds into a plate and teams with the most seeds will be the winners,” he said.

Prizes comprising electrical appliances are sponsored by Ming Fah Enterprise valued at RM1,500, while participants will be given ‘Be Our Guest’ or BOG meal vouchers sponsored by The Food Gallery.

The first prize is an Electrolux juicer valued at RM599, second prize Sharp microwave oven (RM399), third prize Morgan induction cooker (RM299), fourth prize Philip blender (RM199) and fifth prize Morgan coffee maker (RM99).

Sixth to 10th prize winners will receive BOG vouchers worth RM10 each.
