Student Visa

In order to register and study in a Malaysian institute of higher education, an International student will need a student visa. Applying for this visa should be done well ahead of arrival in order to avoid any inconvenience to yourself. Hence the relevant documents must be sent and payments must be done as soon as possible after being accepted into the institution. Application for the student visa (or student pass) will be done by the university, however it is necessary for the student to send certain information. The university will guide you through the application process and inform you as to exactly what is necessary. If you have applied to any other universities in Malaysia, make sure that you haven’t asked them to apply for a student pass for you. This will lead to uneccessary delays and issues. If you have done so, make sure you inform the international office well in advance.

After receiving the “Student Visa Approval Letter”, a student may apply for a single entry visa into Malaysia (if required). After arrival at the University, the students passport along with health report should be submitted to the international office. The procedure may vary slightly if applying through an agent. After approxiamately two weeks, the students passport should arrive at the international office with the “Student Pass Sticker” attached to it. It is advisible to apply for a multiple entry visa. The cost of this visa varies from country to country. All this information can be obtianed at the international office.
